I took the reference photos for this painting a few years ago when I lived in the farming community of Manchester, Michigan. It was spring and this little one was adorable!
Hi Susan! Thank you. I love your cows...reminds me of Rita Kirkman's. I have always loved cows and one day hope to get around to painting more. I come across the free range ones on my hikes, real up close and personal! Happy painting.
This is beautiful. My daughter really wants a horse. I think she might get a horse painting instead! I hope you are enjoying the challenge. I am glad I got to see your work.
Thank you, Lillian! I loved horses as a youngster and knew my parents would never own one...that's how I got into drawing and painting because of my love of horses, I drew them all the time!
Paper Peter Cottontail , Oil, 7x5" SOLD This week at Daily Paintworks is 'The Crumpled Paper Challenge' from Kim Rempel. "Take a piece of paper, crunch it up, put it in a well-lit setting and paint! It's a great exercise to study shapes and relative values." Well, I consider my entry as 'strategically' crumbled paper and that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)
What's New, Pussycat? oil, 8 x 6", $199 Well, I'll tell you some of what's new...I took down my old website and put up a new e-commerce site at the same address: originalartbymary.com . It will only have my paintings. Prints, greeting cards, digital downloads and some small paintings will be at my Etsy Etsy store. However, Rome wasn't built in a day, so I will be working to put my artwork up, as I have been so busy with my galleries (and convalescing from an injury) that I had let my Etsy store go fallow. Other than that, life has been good and I earnestly intend to keep my nose to the grindstone. I'll keep you posted! Mary
Wonderful horse and foal. I'm so glad to have found on the Challenge!
